Short: Unofficial Telegram Amiga Client Uploader: michele.dipace@kaffeine.net (Michele Dipace) Author: Michele Dipace Type: comm/tcp Version: 0.1 Replaces: comm/tcp/TelegramAmiga-MOS.lha Architecture: ppc-morphos Requires: MorphOS 3.x with its TCP/IP stack WHAT IS THIS? ------------- Amigram - Unofficial Telegram Amiga Client. A native Telegram client for the Amiga, written from scratch on Telegram's own MTProto protocol: no gateway, no proxy, no web page. You sign in with your normal Telegram account. The cryptography (RSA, Diffie-Hellman, AES, SHA and the SRP login for 2FA) is built in, so it needs no MUI, no ixemul.library and no AmiSSL, only the system's bsdsocket stack. Unofficial: it uses the Telegram API but is not made by Telegram. Amigram the window client (Intuition/GadTools): chat list with avatars, bubbles, photos, emoji, menus. The same program runs a text client from a Shell; the manual gives the command. WHAT CAN I DO WITH IT? ---------------------- Read and send messages in private chats, groups and channels. Reply, react, forward, edit and delete your own messages, hide other people's messages in groups. See read receipts and who is typing. Get a pop-up and a sound for new messages, chosen per chat. Download and send files, up to 250 MiB on this build. Photos, video frames and link previews show in the chat, with a viewer for a larger copy; a text-only mode keeps slow machines quick. Saved Messages works as a transfer drawer between the Amiga and your phone or PC. The window remembers where you left it and can open on its own screen. GETTING STARTED --------------- 1. Copy this drawer to a writable volume. 2. Double-click Amigram. 3. Sign in: phone number, the code Telegram sends, and the cloud password if you use 2FA. Next time it opens on your chats. The login is kept in telegram-auth.bin next to the program. Never share it: whoever has it is in your Telegram account. The archive has full manuals in English and Italian, with notes for each platform. COMING FROM TELEGRAMAMIGA ------------------------- Until 0.0.99 this program was called TelegramAmiga. To keep your session, chats and settings, copy from the old drawer into this one: telegram-auth.bin and the data drawer, and avatars, photos and downloads if you want them. Do not copy the old program or its icons; the old drawer can go afterwards. WHAT IS NEW IN 0.1 ------------------ ADDED - Shift+Enter starts a new line in the message instead of sending it, as in the official clients (issue #18). Enter still sends. - Ko-fi beside Patreon, for a one-time tip: "Support development..." in the window's first menu now has a button for each, and the text client's /help, the manuals and the Aminet readme name both links, as the README already does. The Donate button on the OS4Depot and AROS Archives pages goes to Ko-fi. CHANGED - The program is called Amigram. The executable, its icons, the drawer and the archives carry the new name; the window title and the version string say it too. For the first releases "Unofficial Telegram Amiga Client" follows the name in About, on the login screen where it fits, in the text client and in the readmes, so the old name is still recognised. The files the client keeps, telegram-auth.bin and the data drawer, keep their names, so copying them from the old TelegramAmiga drawer into the new one brings the session, the chats and the settings along. The window's first menu, the one with About and Quit, is called Amigram too. - The Telegram api credentials are inside the program, and the packages no longer carry data/telegram-api.txt, as Telegram's terms ask of every client. A complete data/telegram-api.txt of one's own still takes precedence; an empty or broken one, like the copy a drawer moved from TelegramAmiga brings along, no longer stops the login. - Telegram's login notice and the list of active sessions name the system and the real version: "0.1 on MorphOS", "on AmigaOS 3", "on AmigaOS 4" or "on AROS", with the processor (68020+, 68000, PowerPC, i386, x86_64, ARM64) in the session details. Every lane used to say "0.1 on Amiga", whatever the machine and the release. - The manuals, README.txt and the archive readmes are shorter and up to date. The manuals had kept a section saying emoji were text only, put the window settings file outside data/, and told to set the own screen by editing it; the Aminet readme offered the TUI icon on systems whose package has none, and the 68000 manual described a window it does not have. FIXED - A file sent without a name of its own, as videos shot on a phone, GIFs, voice notes and most audio are, was saved as "download.bin": nothing could open it, and the next one overwrote it. It is now saved under what it is, an id and the extension of its type, for example "video_1a2b3c4d.mp4", so it opens and each one keeps its own file. Saving the same file again still replaces it. - Ctrl+C in the text client on AmigaOS 3.2 ended the program inside the C library, which printed "***Break" and skipped the clean exit: started from its icon, the client left its console window on the screen with nothing behind it. Ctrl+C now quits the way /quit does, and the window closes after the last key press. - The text client said "No cached chat list found" at every start once the chat list file had grown past a few lines, which is always. It now says so only when there is no list. A COMMUNITY PROJECT ------------------- MIT licensed and non-commercial. Bug reports and wishes are welcome: testers on real hardware are what moves this project forward. The icon is our own design. Carlo Spadoni optimised it for each system, put it on a standard drawer for the drawer icon, and let me ship his versions.
