Readme: | HomeBank --------
Hi all !
As the time let me do so, I have made some little changes this sunday feb, 2 2006. As you probably know, I have spent the last year, from time to time, to rewrite a GTK+ based HomeBank for Linux. The changes made are mainly based on those made in the GTK+ version.
PLEASE AGAIN, SEND BUGS, REQUEST & SUGGESTION TO ME AT MY MAILBOX (DO A 'ABOUT' MENU IN HOMEBANK, TO KNOW MY EMAIL).
Below is a list of Q&A you may be interested in:
* Do you still support HomeBank Amiga version ? ----------------------------------------------- Yes! I never said the contrary, but my interest for Amiga is less than ever. Linux has so many huge advantages... Meanwhile I support bug fix, I can promise to implement new functionnality, I only do, when I have time.
* Why renaming HomeBank ? ------------------------- HomeBank is a too common word, when you request it on google you have plenty of site.
It is also not so meaning of what it do (HomeBanking program mistake).
It is fashion to name software with strange word.
So the idea to rename it was, and I thougth about an anagram, but there is 40320 combination possible (see my website, the full list is there).
For the moment I stopped my choice on 'AmonKheb'. As I like antic egypt => 'Amon'. And Stargate TV serial => 'Kheb' is a planet.
But others proposal are welcome also.
* Why no native version for OS4/MorphOS ? ----------------------------------------- 1) Both requires a PPC hardware I have not (and don't want to buy). My native A1200 with my 60030 extend card is now obsolete and too slow, so I use WinUAE/OS3.9 and it is not possible to fix some bugs spefific to these OS (ideally friendly ascendent compatible...).
2) I have no time to look for OS specification, but inform me of website or documentation explaining each OS specificities. Also if someone has the same for the new MUI4.
* Why not migrate HomeBank to an opensource project ? ----------------------------------------------------- The linux version will be, but not useable on Amiga. I am thinking about it, so I will have a look a this quite soon. Meanwhile, I want HomeBank to continue to be leaded by me. So I have to see how I can do so, as there is several solutions.
BUT NOTHIND IS DECIDED RIGHT NOW.
1) I think about creating a main Linux GPL project and fork it to Amiga, MorphOS, and OS4, probably with any volunter that want to help.
2) Fusion Linux/Amiga version myself, using GTK/MUI.
SYL.
